The Obligatory HP Fan Movie 5 Review

Well... okay, it's not really obligatory but I really, really wanted to write one. Put behind a cut for spoilers (or for the sanity of others when they look at their friends list).

I'll be the first to admit my expectations were't high for this one. When the first pictures for the movie surfaced, my first reaction was "NOOOOOO.... Who attacked Potter with a pair of clippers?! Warner Bros. I kill you!" After all, just how many times is it mentioned in the books that Harry has a thick, mop of black hair that STICKS UP ALL OVER THE PLACE? Probably several billion. But meh, the movies have butchered book!canon before, why not do the same to the main character's (and a few of the other boys') hair?

I liked the fact the Dursleys came back - even though those first few minutes seem so vague and far away now. It was good to see they still existed, and my how little 'Dudderkins' grown. I suppose I really shouldn't have gone into the movie expecting him to still have that high pitch whiny voice. Oh, and Petunia, please... *offers money*... buy a better dress.

Now, onto the Order. 'Mad-Eye' Moody, you may not have had many lines but your grumpy attitude rocks. Lupin, I always love to see you, and you've put on a bit of weight too... good to see. (Oh, by the way, you'd have to be blind or as dense as Scarhead to miss the looks between the pups) Molly and Arthur were cute as always. I'm still not sure on Kingsley because he didn't seem to act how I thought he would, but that might be because of fanfic clouding my judgement. As for Tonks, I have decided that according to movie!canon she is not related to Sirius at all because there was no mention of her being Andromeda's kid or being Sirius's cousin. I did like how her hair changed colour when she got angry and when she transformed her face.

I WANNA HUG SIRIUS BLACK AND NEVER LET HIM GO.... (but I am sure a certain werewolf would not appriciate it). Just the little gestures and winks, you could tell the boy never grew up and never liked to take orders. He really should have had a better death scene. And about that veil... I thought it was suppose to be like a curtain, not some spooky fog that eats people. Also, he wasn't suppose to be hit with an AK... it was suppose to be a curse of red light and from what I understand that's a Crucio or a stunning spell. Warner Bros. you fiends, defying book!canon yet again.

I love Bellatrix. I had my reservations about Helena Bonham Carter playing her but I think she pulled it off nicely. I don't think I could imagine anyone else playing her now (well, her post-Azkaban self, anyway). That bit with her licking her Dark Mark.... just phwoa! And I so want her outfit from the battle, but not the hair. Bit too fluffy for me. And was it just me or is there someone else out there that thinks there has to be something going on between Bella and Lucius? Poor Cissa, wonder if she knows her sister and husband have some creepy movie subtext going on.

Speaking of creepy, I kind of wanna take a bucket of black paint to Umbridge's office walls and write across them in big, bold, red letters "VOLDIE LIVES!!" and "MINISTER FUDGE IS A LOOOOOOSER!" and "VOLDIE IS BACK AND HE'S DEMANDING A CUP OF TEA!" Also, her laugh is creepy, and her love of pink, and those creepy cat plates on the walls. *shudders* Actually, I don't think there is anything un-creepy about Umbridge.

There were a few things that were disapointing. Snape's Worst Memory for one. I think that could have been a bit longer; I mean, did anybody see Lily? I didn't. But I can understand cutting it the way they did... I'm just glad it made the final cut. *crosses fingers in hope for a deleted scene* Another one I am hoping for a deleted scene for is where Draco threatens Harry about putting his father in prison. I was looking forward to that scene, but poor Draco had his part slaughtered. Although, I did enjoy his brief entrance when the arrived at the train station. I don't think I should be reading into the look he gave Potter (you know, the look up then down as if sizing up), it's probably my slashy side looking for some glimmer of hope in canon. But you know what, I can't help but read into it. It keeps me sane until book seven comes out and destroys my wonderful fantasies.

*sigh* Oh well, there's always fanfic.

Er, yes, anyway... the new Death Eater robes are prettier, so there's a plus. Voldie looks rather dashing in his suit.... but stick to the flowing robes, much more sinister. Also, they go swish!. I also didn't know Voldie could breath fire. I bet that comes in handy for the annual Death Eater Family BBQ.

Hmm, there are probably so many other things I could say about the movie but I suppose I have blathered on enough here. I am more than happy to chat with anyone about it, though. (Oh, inner HP fangirl, how I have missed you.)

A/N: I wrote this way before HBP, so it may not make sense according to canon now. Oh well. I crave comments... good or bad, I don't care.

The sky above rumbles, echoing the mood of the gathering below. Funny how nature knows when to reflect moods of certain moments in time. Personally, I find it dead annoying. Ha, dead. I just made a joke. Don’t think anybody gets it. Nobody seems to be laughing. Although it’s easy to see why.

It’s a somber gathering. Small. Broken. All wearing suits and ties. Severely decline from its original number. It won’t ever be that big again. Will it? It’s not the sort of thing I expected you to attend. But there you are. Suit and tie. Somber expression. Looking nothing like the old you. The much younger. More naïve. The more innocent you. The one who would laugh, cry, but most importantly, love. You had it all. And yet, at the same time, had nothing. It was the you I loathed. The you I despised. The you I… admired.

That’s right. I admired that young, naïve, innocent you. I admired you to the point where I was insane with jealousy. So jealous that it was hard to breathe. But I did. I did so in angry, seething gasps drawn in between clenched teeth.

Inhale.
Oh how I despised you with all my being.
Exhale.
How I just wished to wrap my hands around your…

But that was the younger me. The one who’d throw insults at you like daggers. However, you gave your fair share back. We were enemies. Two children trapped in a schoolyard rivalry. We were both naïve. Stubborn. And innocent. Now look where it’s gotten us.

I still find it hard to breathe when I see your face. Those green bespectacled eyes glancing in my direction. But it’s for a whole different reason now, that I am short of breath.

I remember when it changed. When I changed. It was the day I lost everything. My home. My family. My name. My life. All because I refused to bow down to the Lord of Darkness. Serve him my soul on a silver platter so that he may destroy it in his mindless personal vindication. I was stubborn. But after that moment I was lost and broken. And I didn’t think anyone would be there to pick up the pieces.

I had never really given anyone any reason to. I used to embrace the cold like one would a blanket to ward it away. But I had learnt the harsh reality of the cold. And I truly believed I deserved what I got. That I deserved to be lost and broken. Deserved to be alone.

That’s when I saw you. And I mean truly saw you. I saw you not as the famous Boy-Who-Lived. The one with the lightning bolt scar. The one with the power to save the world. I saw you as the green-eyed boy who had suddenly been throw in the deep end. You were just as lost and broken. Just as alone as I was.

But you confused me. You pushed away love and friendship as if it were an old dirty sock full of holes. It had out worn its use. I don’t think I’ll ever comprehend why you did that. I always longed for that friendship. That love that seemed to surround you and follow you wherever you went. I guess that was another reason I was jealous. I envied the fact you had what I longed for the most. That those surrounding you had what my heart desired above all else.

We were two of a kind. You and I. Both destined to be alone. But I’d rather have the last laugh over destiny. I’d rather be alone with someone else. After all, you can’t be lonely in company. Can you?

I’m prattling. Not really making much sense, am I? Don’t think I ever did. Always played the arrogant prat, I did. Unless I was with you. I thank you for showing me I could be someone else. I thank you for the passing glances; the brushing of hands. I thank you for those stolen moments. The caresses in empty classrooms. The sought after kisses in the cluttered storerooms. I thank you for making me whole again. For giving me a reason to breathe.

For all this, and probably more. I thank you.

You are the only person I’ve ever said thank you to. And still the words remain unspoken. But I’m thanking you now. Even though you can not hear my voiceless screaming; yelling it into unhearing ears.

Death is a funny thing. Well, to some anyway. It's the end. The ultimate end. The one we all seem to be heading toward. However, some say there is life after death. That the ones who are dead are still with us. I think the ghosts that roam the halls are proof of that theory. But what about those who don't decide to stick around that moment longer? Do they go somewhere else? Where do they go? Heaven... Hell... The moon?

Now I'm not a religious person. Others can believe whatever they want. I don't care. I believe that there is life after death. But it’s lonely if one is no longer with those they love. Its even lonelier when you see the ones you love lonely too because you are not there with them. To be honest, it can be utterly heart breaking. Not that I’m the type of person who would be an expert in such areas. After all, my life was void of love until you came along.

Sigh.

I'm just prattling again. Trying to avoid the inevitable.

I remember it like it was just yesterday. The sky was, much like it is now, threatening to spill over with rain. However, the smell of death and destruction hung heavy in the air. It was war and I wanted to fight. I had to fight. I had to protect you. Protect the one that I loved. I didn’t want to loose you to the hands of a madman. The same hands that had cost us both so much.

Lights flashed. Screams of pain filled the air. It was stomach churning. Bone numbing. And probably the most horrific scene to ever be witnessed. But you were to far gone to care. You were focused on one thing. One thing alone. As you stood on that hill. Wand drawn. Looking like the hero you were born to be. I knew something was amiss.

Lightning struck. So did I. Knowing not what had possessed me in that moment to do so. I knock you out of the way. Just in time. Engulfed in a green light. Pain. Nothing but pain.

So this is what dying feels like?

Rain fell. The ground is muddy. Pain.
It’s getting harder to breathe.

Inhale.
Rain drops falling from above.
Exhale.
Blood soaking the ground below.

Then there was you. Looking down over me. Tears in your eyes. Or is that my eyes? It hurts. I can’t breathe. But I have too. If only to say goodbye. You look at me with fear. I know it must be mirrored in my eyes too. But I am afraid. Not of death. Of loosing you.

My lips are cut. Bleeding. There’s so much blood.

The life is leaving me. I can feel it drawn out of me like the blood that I know surrounds me. So much left to say. Only one thing to say.

“You are my life.”

My final breath. Used on the one I love.

Lingering. I can feel hot tears streaming from your face onto my limp body. Why’s it so hard to let go of those you love?

Trying to breathe. I can’t. It’s just too hard. Just too late. Life has left me. But love. Love still lingers. Love is eternal. Eternal like the eternal slumber. So tired. Time to sleep. Never to awaken again. Never to see your smiling face. Never to feel the warmth that seemed to pour from you. Never to be with you. Never again.

You defeated him that day. He fell before your wand. Perished. Never to walk the earth again. Never to cast his terror upon the innocents. Never again. Gone.

Gone.
I am.
Gone.
I am gone.

No. I still linger where I shouldn’t. I have to go. But… there you stand. Alone now. The gathering has left in their suits and ties. Huddled under umbrellas to escape the light drizzle that descends from the heavens. And there you stand. No umbrella to protect you from the rain. There you stand. Before newly turned grass and a stone that bares my name. There you stand.

Alone.

We were destined to be alone. But I wanted to have the last laugh over destiny. Seemed destiny lucked out after all.
